The Export Credit Insurance Company of the Emirates (ECIE), a Government of Dubai initiative providing local exporters trade credit protection, together with Coface, a global leader in risk analysis and one of the world’s biggest credit insurers, jointly held a press conference this week to announce details of the two-day regional Credit Alliance meeting and the inaugural Middle East Country Risk Conference.
The annual regional meeting for the General Organisation of Credit Alliance allows members to discuss the changes in the global markets’ credit risk profiles.
Eng. Saed Al Awadi, CEO of ECIE began by saying “As a fully-fledged member of the General Organisation of Credit Alliance, the Export Credit Insurance Company of the ECIE is at the beginning of a pioneering initiative for not only making credit insurance available to exporters in the UAE, but transforming the export industry to become a significant contributor to the UAE’s GDP.
“Our aim to transform Dubai into a leading export destination has been a motivator for many initiatives in the export industry. I’m glad to announce one such initiative here today – Dubai will host the General Organisation of Credit Alliance’s regional meeting for the very first time. This meeting is a momentous occasion for the export industry here, for the simple fact that it paves the way for existing and potential exporters to realise the immense benefits that they are accorded,” Al Awadi added.
The ECIE is also co-sponsoring the inaugural Country Risk Conference, which is presenting experts from the banking and financial sectors.
During the press briefing, Eng. Saed stressed the fact that the Country Risk Conference was just a start in conveying the benefits of UAE’s export industry to participants from all over the world.
“This is without a doubt a big step for the UAE and this region. By attracting 100 professionals, including delegates from across the entire MENA region, this conference will address issues that matter in various financial and industrial sectors”, Al Awadi said.
