JOYoffer (www.joyoffer.com), a daily deal Website that offers value-for-money deals, has been launched in Dubai to cater to women looking for unique and quality online deals.

JOYoffer is an online shopping Website that presents an attractive value proposition to consumers with its broad range of product and service offerings from leading retailers and recreation providers in Dubai, while helping retailers expand their market reach.

A recent study by Euromonitor International revealed that the UAE internet retail market is expected to grow 6.5% in 2011 and sustain between 11 and 15% growth over the next five years. The robust growth forecast opens exciting growth opportunities for the newly launched online shopping website as JOYoffer aims to stand out in the market with its top-quality offerings and huge discounts.

Through JOYoffer, customers can avail of premium deals for various products and services with discounts of 50 to 90%. The Website offers one deal a day and customers only need to sign up to avail of the offer.

“With the steady growth of e-commerce in the UAE, we believe there is tremendous potential for our business model to succeed. Our goal is to provide the best value deals for consumers, while ensuring maximum profitability as we offer a truly affordable and effective marketing solution for participating merchants and businesses. Our primary focus is women and accordingly a significant percentage of the deals featured on our website target this high-potential segment. Women are traditionally loyal patrons and we are confident that JOYoffer’s genuinely premium-value offerings will help boost customer loyalty among women customers,” said Serhan Erol, Managing Director, JOYoffer.

JOYoffer, which is the first daily deal Website to go green as there is no need to print vouchers, presents a measurable platform for communicating a compelling offer to an engaged audience. Merchants have embraced the business concept because they get a brand new customer base as well as return customers at no upfront cost and zero risk. Moreover, JOYoffer provides free advertisement, and free editing of photo design and text.

To purchase a deal featured on JOYoffer, the customer only needs to click the ‘buy now’ button before the timer stops. Once the purchase is completed, an email is sent to the buyer with a unique code. Alternatively, customers can opt for the ‘cash on delivery’ option.

JOYoffer is a product of Mosaic Internet Technologies, a joint venture between British and Turkish e-commerce companies. Mosaic Internet Technologies is bringing its partners’ e-commerce know-how gained by experience across Europe to the Middle East.

‘more data’ is the new addition to du’s bouquet of Pay as you Go recharge options. Offered for the first time in the UAE, ‘more data’ gives du prepaid customers easy and affordable access to data on the mobile.

Pay as you Go customers can now access data more easily and affordably by simply recharging with ‘more data’ option. Updating facebook, downloading from YouTube, checking email or even searching on Google is right at the fingertips.

Just like ‘more time’, ‘more credit’ and ‘more international’ Pay as you Go recharge options, ‘more data’ is available on-the-go, with the convenience of being able to top up at any du Shop, or other retailers across the country by simply using a du WoW recharge card.

Each recharge denomination comes with a unique data bundle that has 30 days validity, and is eligible for data usage within the UAE. SMS notifications will be sent to the customer whenever their ‘more data’ balance is depleted, at which point ‘more credit’ or ‘more time’ balances can be used for data at a standard pay per use rate. ‘more data’ recharge denominations are AED 20, AED 50, AED 100, AED 200 and AED 500, each receiving 40MB, 125MB, 750MB, 2GB and 12GB, respectively.

“Mobile Internet usage has increased exponentially with the increasing availability and popularity of SmartPhones in particular. With this in mind, we decided to offer more option and value – hence ‘more data’ option was devised,” explains Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du.

“It is our intention to constantly anticipate the next best thing to be able to better serve our customers’ needs, and ‘more data’, which we’re introducing to the UAE for the first time, provides them with a compelling prepaid scheme that is way ahead of anything else available in the market.”

To help customers establish what their approximate usage might be, du has compiled a chart based on average data used by popular SmartPhones.

Nahel.com, the online retailer, is celebrating its second anniversary since its launch in Dubai in 2009. Over the last year Nahel.com has tripled their catalogue to 30,000 products and has launched new departments such as books, home appliances, luggage and bags.

It has also become the official retailer of international brands such as Apple, Sony and Blackberry. The online shopping Website has been able to reduce prices to remain competitive both offline and online offering the lowest prices for items across its departments and over the past two years has seen an increase of over 200% in sales within the UAE.

“We have been happy with the growth we experienced over the past year, but Nahel.com remains a small company with solid plans for growth.” said Saeid Hejazi Nahel.com’s Managing Director. “Keeping the customer in mind we have constantly evolved to offer more products at lower prices and better service. We will continue to come up with innovative ways to keep our customers returning and attracting new customers in the region to the online shopping experience,” Hejazi added.

Although the online retailer promises one to two days for delivery, 12% of orders are delivered on the same day and nearly two-thirds of its orders the next day. Nahel.com also provides customer service in the form of a 24 hour bilingual call center. In addition they offer a 60-day return policy storewide with free return shipping and extended warranties on electronics.

“Our main focus over the next year will be to work closer with our partners to offer lower prices, better service and more products. We are constantly looking for official distributors and suppliers that share the same customer-oriented beliefs,” Hejazi concluded.

During the celebrations fortnight, the online store is offering free shipping across the UAE, as well as significant discounts and give away prizes. Until the 30th July, Nahel.com will be holding daily deals including discounts of up to 40% on selected perfumes, watches and electronic goods. There will also be major bundle offers on hair and beauty products as well as electronics and games. With every purchase of AED 200, customers are given the chance to win a Blackberry Playbook.

IBM will mark its Centennial with the release of a new business book; Making the World Work Better: The Ideas That Shaped a Century and a Company. The book is written by three award-winning journalists, Kevin Maney, Steve Hamm and Jeffrey M. O’Brien.

As IBM celebrates its centennial on June 16th, 2011, the book chronicles the ways the world has changed over a century in technology, business and the way progress happens, and the role IBM has played in these changes.

The lessons of the book for all businesses are powerful: To survive and succeed for a decade, even more for a century, requires the ability to anticipate change and the capacity to continually transform. Over the course of a century IBM came into being, grew, thrived, nearly died, transformed itself, and is now charting a new path for itself.

“The authors uncovered not only a wealth of facts and stories, but a set of powerful ideas. Though never written down, they have informed the company’s history from its birth to the present day,” said Mike Wing, Vice President of IBM Strategic Communications and editor of the book.

The book will be printed in eight languages and available in an electronic format as an eBook.

IBM Press. Publication date: June 16th, 2011. Paperback original. ISBN 10 0132755106 – ISBN-13: 978-0132755108. Price: USD 29.99

Content may be considered king but an award-winning script, badly presented, will swiftly dilute audience attention, according to Mike Atack, the man behind Talking Presentations.

He said that statistics reveal that boring presentations are those that focus only on the content. “The Wall Street Journal conducted a survey among company executives leaving conferences and found that 93 per cent of the speakers’ message was delivered by their performance and only seven per cent via the content.”

Atack, who delivers the two-day UAE-based presentation skills programme believes that the art of public speaking is an essential leadership quality for every senior executive.

“The ability to engage, inspire and convince, internal and external audiences is a must-have skill for managers throughout the organisation. However, many business people do not generally think of themselves as orators and struggle to get across an accessible, high impact, memorable message. Many do not meet their objective.”

He said that a great presentation that stirs action is about packaging relevant content so that the audience find it logical, persuasive and motivational.

Atack uses a training format that encourages delegates to raise their voice level, use roving eye contact, energetic body movement, as well as firmly imprinting their mind with an easy-to-retain presentation formula.

“Auto-cues and scripts are not permitted in the Talking Presentations training session,” said Atack. He supports what he calls a ‘fail proof’ eight-step presentation structure.

“You don’t need notes or a script to remember what you already know. You just need a process that accesses your memory bank in a logical sequence,” he states.

Atack said that the art to keeping an audience hooked on what is next, is to turn every presentation into a series of stories that link together.

“A picture paints a thousand words. When we communicate by painting pictures and telling stories we build a reputation of being a powerful presenter.

“Our mind is able to visualise a story, then we just tell it as unfolds. The same is true of a presentation, turning content into a story board process is a magic formula.”

Another must-have skill is building rapport with the audience. Atack coaches participants and provides tips and techniques so they do this effectively. He has another eight steps up his sleeve but stresses that whatever route one adopts must be delivered with sincerity.

“The audience, however big or compact, known or new will be quick to spot if the presenter is spinning a yarn or giving a plastic smile.”

Chapman Freeborn has unveiled a unique iPhone app for quick and executive-friendly ‘on-the-go’ charter enquiries.

The aircraft charter broker launched Private Jet, an application which gives users immediate access to thousands of aircraft worldwide.

In a region where private travel is thriving, Chapman Freeborn’s new app will support the Middle East by providing immediate and real time updates on flight times, availabilities and price.

The app provides instant indicative quotes according to live market information based on users’ entries on the requirements of the passengers.

Private Jet iPhone app by Chapman Freeborn

Within seconds of a search Private Jet identifies a selection of aircraft options including high-resolution photographs and valuable information such as flight times and fuel stops.

Private Jet also allows customers to submit their request direct from their handset to Chapman Freeborn’s global offices – manned around the clock by dedicated charter professionals.

Alex Berry, Chapman Freeborn’s Group Executive Sales and Marketing Director, comments: “Private Jet is the ideal tool for people who need to access Chapman Freeborn’s aircraft information on a tight timescale and its user-friendly design means it will set the standard for making charter enquiries on the move for many years to come.”

While Private Jet provides highly accurate charter quotes, Chapman Freeborn examined earlier efforts to fully automate the type of service and rejected the parts which reduce speed and flexibility.

The company believes the personal touch is central in chartering so worked hard to combine the latest technology with the finest broker expertise to offer the best service to customers.

Berry added: “At Chapman Freeborn we want our customers to feel safe in the knowledge that their enquiries are being dealt with in real time by experts with decades of experience in the charter market.

“In almost every customer-focused industry we are seeing a move away from impersonal automation and back towards personal service with the aid of the latest technology. Private Jet offers the very best of both worlds.”

Chapman Freeborn’s Private Jet app is available as a free download in the Apple Store: http://itunes.apple.com/uk/app/id433399368?mt=8&affId=1578782
